The Lake Land womens basketball team climbed two more spots in the NJCAA Division II poll after routing a top-10 team and drubbing a GRAC foe this past week.

Buoyed by the rout of another nationally-ranked team, a 72-56 victory over No. 7 Illinois Central, the Lakers (18-2) continued to move up the national poll, garnering 92 votes, only six fewer than for Highland (Kansas). Illinois Central (13-6) dropped to No. 16.

Lincoln Land (17-1), which beat Lake Land on a last-second 3-pointer three weeks ago, remains No. 3. Parkland, which Lake Land defeated 77-50 a month ago, is ranked No. 20, while Kankakee, a 70-53 loser to Lake Land last month, also received votes.

The Lakers are ranked fifth defensively in points allowed per game at 50.3, seventh in assists per game (19.1), ninth in opposition 3-point percentage and 10th in points scored.

Guard Carsyn Fearday, who averages 15.4 points per game, is ranked No. 6 in the nation for 3-point percentage at 47.8.

Lake Land next travels to play Lincoln Trail (11-5) tonight in Robinson.
