The Lake Land womens basketball team moved up another spot in the NJCAA Division II poll after beating Lincoln Trail, 60-56, and Rend Lake, 76-56 this past week.
The Lakers, now 20-2, are currently ranked No. 6, garnering 102 votes, two behind No. 5 Johnson County (Kansas) College and 10 more votes than they received in last week’s poll.
Lincoln Land (17-1), which beat Lake Land on a last-second 3-pointer four weeks ago, moved up a spot to No. 2.
Illinois Central (15-6), which lost to Lake Land two weeks ago, remains at No. 16 after winning twice this past week.
Parkland (17-2), which Lake Land defeated 77-50 last month, edged up one spot to No. 19.
The Lakers are ranked sixth nationally in three categories – points allowed per game (51.4), opponents’ 3-point percentage (22.4) and assists per game (18.9). They are ranked eighth for fewest personal fouls per game as well.
Guard Carsyn Fearday, who averages 16.3 points per game, is ranked fifth nationally for 3-point percentage at 46.8.
Lake Land next plays host to Olney Central on Wednesday night.
