This support enables us to continue to hire writers. As a result, we continue to attract more readers both online and on social media, doubling our readership in December from the previous month to more than 11,000. We are seeing another substantial increase in readership this month as well thanks to the additional coverage provided by our sponsors.
In a time when newspapers nationwide are fending off venture capitalists and cutting staff, not-for-profit news media is slowly emerging in communities from Texas to Tennessee to Utah and beyond. That is our mission here as well. All funds received are invested into producing more content for you all.
Since the Coles County Clash football game in early September, we have published more than 220 stories on the website, which have attracted nearly 40,000 reads — a number that grows exponentially each week. We publish additional stories and updates on our Facebook page (@ColesCountySports), where 1,400 active readers engage with us daily.
If you would like to help us continue to offer this coverage for our community, please consider becoming a sponsor as well. You can contact us at ColesCountySports@gmail.com.
We cover games, we celebrate when students sign college letters of intent, we post stories and photos of youth league teams and we offer stories about those involved with local sports. We want to be there to mark athletic achievements in our community.
As always, we humbly thank both our readers and our financial supporters that now include Lake Land College, KIMA Century 21, Wood Rentals, Innovative Staff Solutions and Joe & Sheila Dively.
Please support those who support this local sports coverage.
