Mattoon allowed only four first-half field goals, Dalton Compton hit four 3-pointers and Cam’Ron Thomas scored 14 points in the fourth quarter in the Green Wave’s 55-31 victory on Tuesday night.

Compton had made six 3-pointers last Thursday when the Green Wave totaled 13 overall in an 80-point offensive outburst.

The Green Wave, meanwhile, have allowed only 77 total points in their past two games, a 38.5 average. Buoyed by another tight defensive effort Tuesday night, Mattoon took a 26-12 halftime lead, limiting Paris to a single field in the second quarter.

After a back-and-forth third quarter, Mattoon scored 19 points in the final period behind Thomas, who nailed five field goals. He also hit two of the Green Wave’s eight 3-pointers, a total of 21 in their past two games.

Compton finished with 16 points, Thomas had 14 and Josiah Morton added 11 for Mattoon, which is now 7-11. Paris fell to 9-10.

The Green Wave next play host to Unity on Friday.
