Charleston senior Pierson Smith fired 1-over 37 to earn medalist honors in a tri-match with Mattoon and Paris across the front nine at Charleston Country Club on Thursday.
“He (Pierson) has been a rock,” Trojans coach Scott Dow said.
Cade Landrus posted his best score of the season, shooting 39 as did teammate Jackson Becker to help Charleston win both matches at 157, 10 strokes better than Mattoon, which bettered Paris by four strokes.
Logan Beal carded a 42 to complete CHS’s scoring.
“I strongly emphasized that we needed to take advantage of our home course after our one-stroke loss to Mt. Zion,” Dow said. “I am extremely proud of their efforts on our home course.”
Colton Romine and Stewart Druin led the Green Wave, shooting 38 and 39, respectively, followed by Meade Johnson (44) and Blaine Powers (46).
Reese Wagoner carded a 38 for Paris while teammates Luke Bradley and Chase Westerfield each shot 40.
