Charleston High junior Olivia Conn took first place in the long jump, leaping five meters – roughly 16 feet, 4 inches – at the Mt. Zion Girls Invitational track and field meet Tuesday night.

Teammate Sydney Livingston, a freshman, took second in the high jump, reaching 1.45 meters (4 feet, 9 inches) to finish just an inch lower than Taylorville’s Liliella Vail.

The Trojans finished ninth among the 14 teams at the meet, scoring 15 points – well behind invite winner Mt. Zion’s 148.

Mattoon finished in 14th with 3.5 points.

Several other CHS freshmen also fared well.

• Libby Weiss finished tied for fourth in the high jump, jumping 1.32 meters.

• Maggie Englum ran 1 minute, 9.2 seconds to take sixth in the 400 meters, finishing just 2.01 seconds back.

• And Samantha Fehrenbacher took seventh in the long jump at 4.40 meters.

Mattoon sohomore Gracie Willingham placed sixth in the high jump (1.32 meters) while teammate, freshman Brooke Jobe, took seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (10.92 seconds).
