Lake Land women’s basketball moved up three spots to No. 6 in the new NJCAA Division II poll after posting two more easy victories.

The Lakers defeated Olney Central, 73-56, on Nov. 18 and Moraine Valley, 72-46, on Nov. 12. They also own wins over Triton (76-49), North Arkansas (66-41) and Crowder (70-66).

Three Lake Land players average double-figures in scoring – sophomore Lexi Niebrugge (13.4), sophomore Ali Watson (10.6) and freshman Katelyn Littleton (10.0).

The team ranks fifth nationally for 3-point field goals made per game (10.4) and 11th for 3s attempted at 27.6.

Five other state schools are ranked in the top 20.

Morton remained ranked second in the nation while Lincoln Land (5-0) moved up three spots to No. 8 and Parkland (7-0) moved up two spots to No. 14. Illinois Central (4-2) is at No. 15, followed by Rock Valley (6-1) at No. 16 after not having been ranked.

The Lakers take on Morton on Dec. 3 and play Lincoln Land, Illinois Central and Parkland at least twice later this season.
