Charleston High grad Hannah Harpster helped lead Illinois College to its fourth-best score in school history Tuesday night in her first collegiate match.

Harpster, a freshman nursing major, fired a 79 across The Links course in Jacksonville, one shot ahead of teammate Katie Mae Milhiser (80), to help the Blues post an overall stroke score of 325.

Harpster started slowly, carding a double-bogey on the opening hole for a 41 on the front nine before rolling to a 38 score on the back nine that included a birdie.

Another Charleston High alum, senior Haley Walker, carded a 92.

Harpster, Walker and the rest of the Illinois College team next compete in this weekend’s Highland Golf Classic.
