Dane Herrington drove in four runs on three hits and James Hess scattered two hits across four scoreless innings to lead Charleston to an 8-2 victory over Champaign Centennial on Thursday.

The IHSA also announced that the Trojans had earned the No. 2 seed in a highly competitive Class 3A Regional set to begin next month. Troy Triad, which is ranked No. 4 by Max Preps, is the top-seeded team, followed by No. 8 Charleston, No. 11 Highland and No. 5 Effingham. The winner of the regional could face No. 17 Mt. Vernon or No. 18 Mascoutah in a sectional match-up. The pairings, dates, times and locations for regional action will be released later today.

Herrington ripped a double to knock in two runs and put CHS ahead 2-0 in the third inning.

The Trojans scored six runs in the final three innings to build on their early lead.

Aiden Archibald drove in two runs on two hits.

Charleston (17-6) takes on Mattoon tomorrow in a game that will have significant Apollo Conference implications.
