Charleston Middle’s Hadley Webb swept two running events – and added another one in a field event – during a track and field tri-meet at Charleston High School.
The CMS seventh-grade boys won their respective meets, as did the eighth-grade girls. The eighth-grade boys finished third behind Paris Mayo and Jasper County on Thursday.
Webb won the 1,600 meters by nearly 38 seconds in 5 minutes, 55.45 seconds and took the 400 by more than 4 seconds in 1:08.89. In addition, she won the high jump by jumping 4 feet.
Sydney Stalker, meanwhile, took both seventh-grade weight events, winning the discuss by 10-plus feet with a toss of 39 feet, 10 inches and the shot in 15-9.
For the seventh-grade team in the 100 meters, Avery Beals continued her winning streak with a time of 14:02 seconds, followed by teammate Ava Goble in second. Beals later took the 400 in 1:08.88, followed by teammate Samantha Fehrenbacher.
Ava Goble placed first in the long jump in 13-5 1/2. Plus, CMS’s Maggie Englum blew away the field, beating the runner-up by 32 seconds in 2:52.25.
The seventh-grade boys team won their meet with a team total of 57, edging out Paris-Mayo by four points. The eighth-grade boys team placed third in their competition.
Alex Matheny had another strong day in field events. He won the shot put with a throw of 33-6 with Tyler Oakley placing second. In the discus, Matheny took second and Jace Boyce placed third.
