Mattoon’s Kylie Haacke and Brock Davee each posted season-bests to win their respective cross country races on Senior Night across Meadowview Golf Course.

In a prelude to Tuesday’s Apollo Conference race, Haacke beat Mt. Zion’s Renee Ballard and Charleston’s Megan Garrett by clocking a 19 minute, 3.2 seconds time in the three-mile race. Ballard finished 28 seconds later and Garrett was another 10 seconds back.

The Braves then took six of the next eight spots, the pack broken up only by CHS teammates Grace Spoonhour (20:34) and Ila Richter (20:53) in sixth and seventh places, respectively.

Mt. Zion won the quad meet with 28 points, followed by Charleston (53), Champaign Central (78) and Mattoon (82).

Davee won the boys race by 31 seconds in 15:58 to help the Green Wave take first with 34 points.

Mattoon’s Trent Hettinger took third in 16:29.8 and Tyler Warner finished seventh in 16:50.9.

Luca Carcasi led the Trojans, finishing 12th in 17:09.

Central finished in second with 44 points, followed by Mt Zion (54) and Charleston (98).
