CHS boys golf @ Shelbyville (with Mount Zion), 4 p.m.

Charleston is coming off a dual victory over Olney Richland. Patrick Phillips (42) led the way at Charleston Country Club. Charleston will play in a triangular with Shelbyville and Mount Zion at Eagle Creek Golf Course in Findlay. 

In a matchup last week, Mt. Zion defeated Lincoln at Lincoln Elks Club by a narrow margin. Recently, the Braves won a quadrangular meet at South Side Country Club in Decatur. Mount Zion (169) defeated Effingham (177), Taylorville (187), and Shelbyville (220). Mt. Zion was led by Hansen (40), Gronne (42), Pullen (43), Taylor (44), Driskoll (48), and Griffith (51).

CHS girls golf vs. Effingham, 4 p.m.

The Lady Trojans will host Effingham at Charleston Country Club in what will be the team’s fourth matchup with the team. Charleston has defeated Effingham in all three previous encounters. Ava Boehm and Hannah Harpster will go back and forth as their rivalry thickens. 

Harpster is coming off medalist honors (40) in a match with Effingham and Sullivan at Bent Tree Golf Course on Monday. Madeline Sanders and Stacey Zerbst each shot a 46 to help lead Charleston past Effingham by 27 strokes and Sullivan by 43 strokes. 

MHS tennis vs. Mahomet-Seymour, 4 p.m.

Mattoon will play host to Mahomet-Seymour at MHS Tennis Courts. The Green Wave defeated Champaign Centennial 5-4 on Wednesday evening. Mahomet-Seymour does not return any state qualifiers from last year’s team that placed sixth at the IHSA Champaign Central Sectional.
