Hannah Larson earned Charleston’s first individual victory Thursday, sweeping Mt. Zion’s Alexis Mallory, 6-3, 6-3, in an 8-1 team loss to the Braves.

“Hannah did a great job keeping the ball in play and handling the hard balls hit by her opponent,” said CHS coach Eric Selstad.

Larson also teamed with Maggie Goetten to force a tiebreaker in a doubles match before losing, 7-6, 6-4.

Maci Mayhall and Clara Cox lost a three-set match at No. 3 doubles, 7-5, 1-6, 4-10.

“In doubles we had some very close matches at No. 1 and No. 3,” Selstad said. “We made great shots at times and played well, but it wasn’t quite enough. If we can become more consistent getting that ball in play, we will start to see more wins.”
