Carsyn Fearday was named to the NJCAA All-American first team after helping lead Lake Land College’s women’s basketball to one of its best seasons all-time – a 30-3 record and a No. 4 seed in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament this past season.

Like all other college spring sports events, the national tournament was canceled because of concerns about COVID-19.

Fearday, an Effingham native, led the team at 15.4 points per game, was second in field-goal percentage at 46.6%, rebounding at 4.8 per game and steals at 1.2 per game. Fearday had also been named Region 24 Player of the Year.

This marks the third time in four years that the Lakers have had a member on the All-American team. Fearday joins Avery Jackson (second team, 2018-19) and Kassidy Bonebrake (second team, 2016-17) as other honorees.

“Carsyn has worked very hard to add to her game this year,” Lake Land coach Dave Johnson said. “She is certainly deserving of the honor, myself as well as her teammates are extremely happy for her.”
