Mattoon’s Sam Bradbury (left) heads in for a dunk. Charleston’s Isaac Miler snags a rebound.

Charleston junior forward Isaac Miller and Mattoon sophomore center Sam Bradbury were each named to the Apollo Conference second team, the conference announced today.

The 6-foot-8 Bradbury, the only sophomore selected, set a school record for field-goal percentage by making 76.44 percent of his shots – 133 of 174 attempts, eclipsing a record that had stood since 1971 by 12 percent. Bradbury also averaged 9.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.

“Sam worked really hard this year,” Mattoon coach Ryan Ghere said. “He continues to get better all of the time. He knows that he still has a lot of work to do to reach his full potential, but I have no doubt that he will improve this offseason to be even better next year.”

Miller averaged 12.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and made 52 3-pointers this past season for the Trojans. He just announced that he would be playing at Eastern Illinois University next season.

“He came to practice each day with an attitude to get better,” Charleston coach Brad Oakley said. “Those practice habits led to his performance on the court.”
