
Olney Central College scored 18 runs on 18 hits on the way to an 18-2 rout of Lake Land baseball on Thursday afternoon.
The Lakers managed only five hits.
Olney Central jumped out early, scoring six runs in the first two innings highlighted by back-to-back home runs by Nick Rucker and Pat Mills.
Lake Land responded in the first inning when Andrew Erickson slammed a two-run homer that brought in Oliver Dunn. After cutting the lead in half in the bottom of the first, the Lakers gave it back in the form of a two-run home run to Reed Blaszcyk. Olney was able to score runs in every inning except the third.
Five different Lakers recorded hits, including three for extra bases: Erickson’s homer, plus doubles by Dunn and Jamie Young.
Wil Roman (0-2) gave up 11 runs in four innings on eight hits and two walks.
Olney’s Parker Newby improved to 3-0.
The Lakers (1-11) will travel to Olney for a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at noon.
