In six games this weekend, Lake Lake Land’s Frankie Izard hit .500 (11-22) posted a .607 OBP, scored 13 runs and drive in 10 from the leadoff spot.

Lake Land College and LSU-Eunice combined for 33 runs, 36 hits, and six errors in a wild game on Sunday morning. LSU-Eunice, which came into the game as the No. 1 team in NJCAA Division II, defeated the Lakers 20-13.

The Lakers (4-2) took what appeared to be a commanding lead in the opening innings. They scored 11 runs in the first two innings sparked by Kaitlyn Scheitler’s two-run homer to centerfield and Emmy Graver’s three-run double that gave the Lakers an 8-0 lead.

After Eunice’s Karli Fontenot hit a homer in the top of the second, the Lakers add three more runs on a two-run single by Kali Husman and an RBI double by Danielle Neuleib, making it 11-1.

Eunice, though, scored 10 runs in the third, thanks to five unearned runs on a two-out error by the Lakers that extended the inning.

The Bengals took the lead for good by scoring five runs in the fourth and fifth on a two-run homer, a two-run single and a sac fly, giving Eunice a 16-12 lead it never relinquished.

Frankie Izard went 3-for-5, scored a three runs and drive in another. Graver, Scheitler and Amaya Eubanks also collected three hits, while Rachel Kaufman and Krysten Darrough added two apiece. Scheitler scored three runs and Graver drove in four.

Abrienne Lee gave up 10 runs, five earned, in 2 2/3 innings. She also allowed seven hits and three walks.
