Mallory Ramage scored 20 points and made a key steal in the final minute Saturday night to lead Mattoon past Pana, 52-47, to win the Pana Thanksgiving Tournament on Saturday.

The Green Wave advanced to the title game by beating Williamsville, 57-35, in the morning.

Ramage was named the tournament Most Valuable Player while teammate Delainey Bryant made the all-tournament team.

“I am proud of the way our girls played today,” Mattoon coach Amy Aydt said. “They always play hard and give me 100 percent. Everyone did their job and we found a way to win.”

Several players contributed down the stretch to help secure the championship. Hallie Niemerg had a big offensive rebound and put back, while Faith Niebrugge and Ramage each made free throws.

“Mallory had a great tournament and played well on both sides of the floor,” Aydt said.

Tied 20-20 at halftime, Mattoon outscored Pana 18-12 in the third quarter to take a 38-32 lead.
