Caleb Hurst and Isaac Miller scored 21 points apiece to lead Charleston past Nedwton in the Trojans’ season-opener at Baker gym on Monday night.

Hurst made seven field goals, including a 3-pointer, and converted eight of nine free throws. Miller sank a 3-pointer among his eight field goals.

Charleston took a 22-11 lead but trailed by two points at halftime after Newton scored 22 points, bolstered by a pair of 3s.

But Hurst made six free throws and two field goals to power the Trojans to a 23-point final quarter that secured the victory.

“The kids played hard, but we didn’t have great rhythm,” said Charleston coach Brad Oakley. “But the kids stayed together and got the win.”
