
Katrina Hoferer took fifth in the 100-yard backstroke to help the Charleston swim team finish fifth in Saturday’s nine-team Capital City Invitational in Springfield.
Hoferer, a sophomore, clocked in at 1 minute, 11.93 seconds for the race. She also also teamed with Savannah Warner, Molly Weber and Abby Woodall to capture fifth in the 200-yard free relay in 1:59.04.
Hoferer led off the 200-medley relay team that included Gretchen Klepzig, Woodall and that took sixth place in 2:11.56
Molly Weber (100 butterfly), Abby Geisler (100 breaststroke) and Abby Woodall (50-yard freestyle) each added seventh-place individual finishes.
In the Junior Varsity division, Stacey Zerbst and Delaney Goddard took fourth and sixth, respectively, in the 50-yard breaststroke. Gwyneth Landreth posted personal-best times in all three of her events, including a 14-second improvement in the 100-yard freestyle.
Overall, Charleston swimmers recorded 16 personal-best times in 34 total events..
