Mattoon’s Kylie Haacke clocked in at 19 minutes, 46 seconds to finish eighth Saturday morning in the Lanphier Invitational, the girls team’s best time over the 3-mile race in Lincoln Park. Quincy Collings took 15th in 20:12.

Brock Davee took 20th for the boys in 17:12, one of nine personal-bests for the Green Wave squads. Josh Ramage and Chase Armstrong also improved on previous times.

Cale Fogerty, Sean South, Garett Campbell, Welyan Schultz and Aberham Rodriguez each also set personal-record times competing for the Green Wave JV.

In Peoria, junior Megan Garrett posted the best time by any Charleston High female runner, clocking in at 19 minutes, 34 seconds in the First To The Finish Invitational at Peoria’s Detweiller Park on Saturday morning. Garrett finished 30th, followed 10 spots later by junior Grace Spoonhour (19:45). Freshman Ila Richter ran 21:18 across the three-mile course for 139th place. The Trojans girls finished 24th among more than 50 teams in the Class 2A division.

Sophomore Luca Carcasi (17:53) led the CHS boys, who competed without two runners who were taking the ACT. Sophomore Mason Reeley (18:40) finished second for CHS, followed by freshman Landon Ames in 19:43.
