Charleston’s Olivia Conn, Mattoon’s Emily Maple compete at state track meet

Local athletes didn’t have to go far Friday to compete in the IHSA State Track and Field girls semifinals at O’Brien Field on the campus of Eastern Illinois University.
Charleston junior Olivia Conn competed in the long jump. Conn’s first jump was her best at 4.74m. Conn would scratch on her second jump and go 4.46m in her final jump of the season. Conn finished 25th overall.

Mattoon junior Emily Maple raced a couple hours later during the second heat of the 800m. Maple finished 32nd overall with a time of 2:l minutes, 24.54 seconds.
