Lake Land, the No. 9 ranked team in NJCAA, plays its third game of the month. After picking up a huge win over a nationally ranked opponent last week, Land Land will return to action on the road against a Region 24 opponent. John Wood has been struggling as of late and will need a lot to complete this upset against the Lakers.

John Wood’s Past Results: Since the start of 2023, John Wood has lost eight of their last nine games. That includes a 73-57 loss to Lake Land on January 14th. Among other familiar opponents, John Wood has lost to Parkland 63-57, Lincoln Land 68-46, Danville Area 74-70, Illinois Central 72-58, and Southwestern 59-34. John Wood’s lone win this calendar year is a 64-41 win over Spoon River. 

John Wood’s Top Players: Madison McFerrin, a sophomore guard, leads the team in scoring with 19.1 and 6.2 rebounds. Alexis Pohlman, a freshman combo guard, brings 10.6 points. This appears to be a strong rebounding team with four players averaging at least 5.0 rebounds per game. Lake Land’s Past Results: On February 1, Lake Land lost to Lincoln Land 61-52 but then rallied to defeat the No. 10 ranked Parkland team on the road 65-58 on February 4th. In Lake Land’s win over Parkland, Katelyn Littleton led the team in scoring with 17 points off of the bench, while Lexi Niebrugge added 14 points.
