Teygen Sewell snagged eight rebounds, while Maple and Piper Sanders had five apiece.

“We played a great game,” Mattoon coach Troy Haacke said. “Outstanding defense against a quick athletic team that can shoot the 3.”

“We went on a nice run to start the third,” Haacke said. “We made big free throws down the stretch and took care of the ball. It was a great team win.”

Lincoln captured the tourney title by rolling past host Pana, 61-28, in the final Saturday night.

MHS, now 3-2, next plays at Lincoln on Friday.
