Mattoon sophomore Blair Powers led the way as the Green Wave defeated both Taylorville and Mt. Zion Monday at Meadowview Golf Course in Mattoon.

A day after shooting 37 on the front nine at the same course and a 78 overall, Powers tallied a 41, saying that her short-game came up, short.

“I did good in shooting in a 41,” Powers said. “I could have done better. Not one of my best rounds, but decent.”

“I three-putted a few times,” Powers said. ” I just have to putt better. Hopefully, the team and I can get out and practice our short-game a lot and get better to help our scores.”

Powers blamed her chipping, saying it was a little off. “I didn’t get it in a three-foot range that I was hoping to get it to, Power said.
