Likely the best pitching prospect in the Apollo Conference will be on full display this weekend. Mahomet-Seymour’s senior pitcher Blake Wolters has committed to Purdue University and has started this season very strong. Many Apollo coaches thought the Bulldogs could go from worst to first this season. Charleston, winners of five of six games, will look to upend the Bulldogs in a road game.

Here is a preview of Saturday’s game.

What Mahomet-Seymour Said: “Nice to hear that many think we can win the conference,” said DiFilippo. “I know every team in the Apollo is solid with great starting pitching and, usually, any team could win. Charleston usually has great starting pitching and solid defense. They have always played us tough and we expect nothing less than that. We expect them to come out and attack us, and we will have to be ready.”

What Charleston Said: “Mahomet pitching will pose a challenge because it is hard to replicate in practice,” said CHS coach Daniel Bennett. “We crank our pitching machine up, but it’s not the same as seeing live-arm pitching. Our kids will have to be ready against a team that is undefeated in the Apollo.  We have really good hitters, good pitching, and a quality defense so I am excited for the challenge.”
