Two Coles County track athletes finished their indoor seasons with an All-State finish. Charleston’s Wyatt Strader tied for third in the long jump, while Mattoon’s Maya Cook placed fifth in the shot put.

Strader, a senior, jumped 6.38 meters on his final attempt to post a personal record and tie Tim Maidment of Woodstock at 20 feet, 11.1 inches.

Cook, a senior, recorded a throw of 11.06 meters, or 36 feet, 2.25 inches.

The Mattoon boys 4×800 relay team of Brock Davee, Sam Ferrar, Trent Hettinger and Quincy Hamilton missed all-state status by one spot and 1.5 seconds. The posted a time of 8 minutes, 40.94 seconds right behind Mahomet-Seymour’s (8:39.24).

Charleston’s Makenna McBride clocked 26.9 seconds for a personal best to finish 10th in the 200, just 1.4 seconds off all-state status. McBride also placed 23rd in the 60-meter dash in 8.32.

Davee ran the 1,600 meters in 4:37.57 to take 13th while Mattoon’s Ryleigh Grayson placed 19th in the 400 meter with a time of 1:04.10.
