Remington Bryant is following in his sisters’ footsteps.
Bryant, the younger brother of Charleston High’s Maddie Bryant, the first girl state qualifier in Coles County history, is moving on to a state tournament of his own – the 50th Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation Championships.
Remington Bryant took second in Saturday’s sectional tourney. He pinned Nathan Will of Champaign Wrestling in the semifinals but lost in the finals of the Novice 215-pound division. The meet is set for March 11-12.
Maddie Bryant, meanwhile, will be searching for a title at the Illinois Girls Folkstyle State Championship in Oswego on March 13, competing in the high school division weight, which will be determined at entry.
Alaynia Bryant, a junior at Charleston High School, will also compete again after a two-year hiatus, traveling to Springfield to wrestle in the girls’ division of the IWCOA Girls’ Open Championship on March 12-13. Her weight class will be determined at the time of entry as well.
