Ahead 19-12, the Green Wave outscored MacArthur 26-3 in the second quarter.

This win was the fourth time in eight seasons that Mattoon coach Amanda Aydt has guided a team to 20 wins in a season.

“I have been blessed to coach a lot of amazing basketball players,” Aydt said. “I’ve enjoyed coaching every single one of them, it’s been a lot of fun.”

Aydt was happy to see her team adapt during the win over MacArthur.

“I thought our team did an excellent job on the 1-2-2 press, back to the 2-3, switching up defenses,” Aydt said. “They just did a great job executing the game plan.”

Mattoon, now 20-2, will next travel to Urbana High on Thursday. MacArthur falls to 12-8.
