Mattoon will play a contest on the road at Shelbyville. After a tough loss on the road at Olney, the Green Wave look to get back into the winning column against a Rams team that is struggling to find wins.

Opponent’s History: The Rams are coached by former Mattoon High School grad Paul Conlon, who is the son of recently announced IBCA Hall of Fame Class of 2022 member Steve Conlon, who is a former MHS coach and current MMS coach. Paul Conlon is in the midst of his second season after a 9-6 year last season. With the combined record of this year, he owns an overall record of 10-11. 

Shelbyville’s Past Results: Shelbyville has lost four games in a row. After falling to Windsor-Stew Stras, the team defeated Heritage. Since then, the team has lost to Decatur Lutheran, Okaw Valley, Pana, and again to Windsor. All but Decatur Lutheran have been blowout losses. 

Shelbyville’s Top Players: Hayden Coonce is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior guard, while junior Drake McDonald is a 6-foot-3, 205 pounds small forward. The team has just three seniors on the roster. 

Shelbyville’s Team Stats:  The Rams are averaging 41.0 points per game and allowing 54.1 points per game. 

Mattoon’s Past Results: Mattoon is coming off a 43-31 loss to Olney on the road on Saturday. Mattoon struggled to find offense, trailing 20-10 at halftime. Olney’s Chase Travis led the Tigers with 26 points against the Green Wave. Mattoon made it a 29-23 game entering the fourth quarter before losing the last quarter 14-8.
