Charleston sophomore Chet Shrader tied the game up with his touchdown. Heavy rain started falling during the final minute of the first half. The rain lightened up and gave the teams a break for most of the second half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Shrader ran in for his second touchdown of the night, which was immediately answered by Freshman Deaidan Arnold scoring on Mattoon’s first down of the next drive, tying the game at 18 apiece.

An interception by Mattoon freshman Jake Butler gave Mattoon the momentum and Arnold scored his fourth touchdown for the Green Wave, giving Mattoon a 24-18 lead.

Charleston wasn’t done, responding with the TD in the final seconds. With the only successful PAT, Luke Bonnsetter passed for the final points as heavy rain began falling over the field.
