The Charleston High junior varsity football team couldn’t get the momentum to secure the win during its home opener against Robinson, losing 20-14.
Robinson started off strong, scoring a touchdown during the first quarter, but missed the PAT, to take a 6-0 lead into the second quarter.
Charleston answered during the second quarter by scoring two touchdowns and a 2-point conversion run in by freshman quarterback Luke Bonnsetter on a sneak during the Trojans’ first score.
Robinson came back strong after the half with an early touchdown in the third quarter. Robinson secured the win with an interception with just over a minute left near the Trojans’ goal line.
“We had some execution issues that really frustrated us that we’ll definitely be working on in practice,” said JV coach Daniel Thompson. “But nothing, all in all, that we can be too disappointed of.”
