With less than 10 days of practice so far this season, the Lake Land Lakers opened their year at home with a pre-season match against the Lincoln Land Loggers. The Lakers dropped the match, 3-2, winning the first and fourth sets.
Head Coach Ashli Wicker was happy with how the match went, especially with less than 10 days of practice.
“There is stuff, of course, we need to work on, but definitely walking out of here we’re pleased and ready to just get back into practice tomorrow,” said Wicker.
Lake Land’s Andressa Morais Borges slammed 16 kills and recorded 11 digs while Mackenzie Reynolds had 13 kills and 10 digs. In addition, Malorie Craig recorded 11 assists, Madison Watret had nine digs and Erica Michels had eight kills and nine digs.
Mattoon High alum Xylia Green posted seven digs and three assists in her first match.
The Lakers’ next match is on Aug. 20 at the McHenry County Invitational in Rockford.
