Charleston lost to Springfield 7-5 in the super sectional baseball championship at Millikin on Monday night.
The Trojans fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning but rallied to tie the score behind an error, hit batsman, a walk and run-scoring singles by Cade Landrus and Cory Spour.
Charleston scored two runs to go ahead 5-3 in the third inning on singles by Kendall Pankey and Dane Herrington and a double by Ty Coartney.
Springfield bounced back to score three in the fifth to go ahead, 6-5, and padded the lead to 7-5 when a misplayed line drive turned into a three-base error for a run.
Spour collected three hits and drove in a run as did Landrus and Herrington.
We’ll have a full report later tonight.
