Rachel Kaufman threw a no-hitter to lead Lake Land to an 11-0 victory in a doubleheader sweep of Rend Lake.
Kaufman (above) struck out walked one and threw only 88 pitches, 56 for strikes.
Lake Land bounced back after being swept by Wabash Valley last Thursday, winning the second game by a 19-3 margin in five innings in Great Rivers Athletic Conference action.
Lake Land led 5-3 before sending 17 batters to the plate in the fourth inning.
Tyanna Graber was 3-for-4 with three runs and five runs batted in for the Lakers, who improved to 41-7. Kaitlyn Scheitler was 2-for-4 with three RBI and Klara Cejkova-Kolaci was 1-for-2 with three RBIs. In addition, Taylor Warne was perfect in three at-bats with two runs and two RBIs.
Tori Haug was the winning pitcher for the Lakers, who are first place in the GRAC at 23-3. Haug pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed four hits, three runs, 1 earned with three strikeouts.
In the first game, Cejkova-Kolaci drove in five runs, including a three-run homer in the fifth. Kaufman helped herself by going 2-for-2 with two runs batted in, while Kyrsten Darrough drove in two runs.
Lake Land will play host to Frontier College in a doubleheader Tuesday with the first game scheduled for 2 p.m. in the non-conference games.
