Lake Land rebounded from to its first loss in 30 games by sweeping its past two opponents.

Taylor Warne singled on a bunt to start the sixth inning, advanced to second on a single by Marama Makea and reached third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on an error to hand Lake Land a 5-4 victory over host Southeastern Illinois on Friday. 

The Lakers had a much easier second game, hitting three homers and collecting 12 hits in a 13-1 rout of Southeastern. Kaitlyn Scheitler ripped her 13th homer of the season and drove in three runs. She has 53 RBIs overall.

Tyanna Graber hit her 11th homer to go along with her 58 RBIs this season while Liz Titus hit her third.

In the opener, Warne collected two hits, as did Makea, Graber and Kyrsten Darrough.

Lake Land, ranked No,. 12 nationally, is now 37-5 and 21-1 in the conference.

The Lakers had also swept Shawnee College earlier this week, scoring a run in the seventh inning to win 6-5 in its first game since its 29-game winning streak had been snapped. Mackenzie Brown singled to drive in Klara Cejkova-Kolaci, who had doubled. 

Jordan Sapp hit one of three Lake Land homers in a second game romp over Shawnee, 16-1. Scheitler, who drove in five runs on four hits, and Darrough also drilled homers.

Sapp is now hitting .290, with a .432 on-bae percentage and .565 slugging percentage.

In the first opener, Lake Land scored six runs on 12 hits. The Lakers trailed 4-1 after three innings before scoring two runs in the fourth to cut the deficit to one. Shawnee went ahead 5-3 in the fifth.  Lake Land countered with two runs in the sixth and added the game-winning run in the seventh.
