Lake Land’s winning streak came to an end Tuesday afternoon on a walk-off single in extra innings.
The No. 12 Lakers defeated John A. Logan in the opener of the afternoon doubleheader. Rachel Kaufman tossed a five-hitter for the 4-1 win. Klara Cejkova-Kolaci and Kyrsten Darrough drove in two runs apiece to extend the win streak to 29 games.
Rachel Kaufman put Lake Land ahead 1-0 on a fielder’s choice in the second inning, then added runs in the next two innings for a 3-1 lead.
Hayley Palm hit a homer in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings. In the eighth inning, John A. Logan loaded the bases on a single to left, a bunt single and an error. After Rachel Kaufman struck out the next batter, Montana Taylor singled to center to drive in the game-winning run.
Tyanna Graber and Kaitlyn Scheitler had two singles apiece.
