MOUNT CARMEL — The Lake Land softball team continues to roll as they won their 17th and 18th straight games, beating Wabash Valley 7-1 and 11-1 on Wednesday in Great Rivers Athletic Conference games.

Lake Land has not lost since March 2 in a 10-9 game to Volunteer State. The Lakers are 22-4 and 10-0 in the GRAC and ranked No. 20 in the nation. 

Wabash Valley fell to 12-13 overall and 5-3 in the GRAC. 

The score was tied In the second game until the Lakers pushed across three runs in the third, five runs in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth.

Tyanna Graber had three hits to lead Lake Land, while Taylor Warne had two hits and a RBI. Kiara Cejkova-Kolaci drove in two runs. 

Claire Maulding struck out four across four innings for the win while and Rachel Kaufman had two strikeouts in the final innings.

In the opener, Lake Land scored two runs in the second. The score remained 2-0 until the Lakers added two in the fifth and three in the sixth. Wabash Valley scored its lone run in the seventh.

Kaitlyn Scheitler had three hits and with two hits each were Marema Meka and Warne. Meka drove in two runs as did Tyanna Graber and Liz Titus. 

Kaufman picked up the win throwing all seven innings and allowing four hits with 16 strikeouts. 

Lake Land baseball wins

VINCENNES — The Lake Land baseball team topped Vincennes 12-3 at Jerry Blemker Field.

Vincennes led 1-0 in the fourth when Lake Land took the lead for good with a six-run fifth inning. Lake Land added a run in the sixth and two in the seventh to improve to 12-8.

The Lakers had 15 hits in the nine inning game, while Vincennes, 12-7, had eight.

Oliver Dunn went 4-for-6 and drove in four runs.
