Charleston took a nine-point first-quarter lead and then withstood a furious scoring barrage by Lincoln freshman Kloe Froebe to post a 53-46 victory and remain unbeaten in girls basketball.

The Trojans (9-0) took a 36-26 lead entering the final quarter where Froebe scored 12 of her team-high 21 points.

But Shae Littleford scored 10 of her game-high 24 points and Hannah Buescher nailed her fourth 3-pointer along with five of her 15 total points in the fourth quarter to keep the Trojans ahead for their ninth victory.

Littleford also recorded six steals, six assists, four rebounds – and moved within 41 points of tying CHS’s all-time scoring record of 1,876 career points.

Katarina Blase grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and added four points, while Alycia Triplett contributed six points and five rebounds.

Charleston next plays host to Mattoon at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
