Charleston sophomore Angela Coe set three school records in her first high school swim meet during a girls event at Lincoln College on Thursday evening.
Coe set marks to win in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.7), 100-yard butterfly (58.82) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.93).
“Angie Coe is new to our team this year but has been swimming competitively for many years,” CHS coach Dwight Pentzien said.
Ava Zheng, a junior, won both the 100 and 200 freestyle events in 1:01.37 and 2:17.83, respectively.
Three other Trojans swimmers took first to dominate the meet:
- Abby Woodall, senior, first place 50 free, 29.62
- Molly Weber, junior, first place 500y free, 6:16.14
- Katrina Hoferer, junior, first place 100 back, 1:12.40
The Trojans tallied 89 points to trounce both Mahomet-Seymour (34) and Lincoln (12).
In addition, Delaney Goddard finished second in both the 200 and 500 free.
“We are just past the half way point in the season and are excited to see how our hard work in practice starts to show in our races at upcoming meets and sectionals,” Pentzien said.
Charleston travels Tuesday for a tri-meet in Champaign against Centennial and Danville.
