Charleston High teams are busy today, hosting boys and girls golf and girls tennis.

CHS girls golf vs. Effingham, Sullivan, 4 p.m.

Charleston plays host to Effingham and Sullivan at Bent Tree Golf Course. Last week, the Lady Trojans were 24 strokes ahead of Effingham at the Olney Invite. Hannah Harpster shot a score of 40, while Stacey Zerbst carded a 41. Rileigh Babbs (47), Taryn Pearson (51), Madeline Sanders (51), and Malia Hodges (58) rounded out the team’s third-place finish. 

As for Effingham, Ava Boehm topped Harpster with a score of 38. Anna Sigg (49), Anie Frost (57), Ella Neibrugge (59), Anna Hirtzel (62), and Marah Kirk (66) rounded out the rest of Effingham’s team. 

Sullivan played at the Charleston Scramble earlier in the year and placed eighth overall. 

CHS boys golf vs. Richland County, 4:15 p.m.

The Trojans play host to Olney, the second time this season the two teams have faced off. Earlier in the season, Charleston defeated Olney by 15 strokes in a triangular match with Teutopolis. 

Last Thursday, Pierson Smith earned medalist honors in a tri-match win over Effingham and Mahomet-Seymour. Smith carded a 39 across the front nine holes, one stroke better than teammates Logan Beals and Payton Daugherty. Cade Landrus and Patrick Phillips rounded out the top scores with cards of 42. 

CHS tennis vs. Richland County, 4:15 p.m.

Charleston plays host to Richland County, which will be led by the senior doubles tandem of Zoe Alexander and Riley Doll. The duo qualified for state last season and figures to make some noise in the singles competition as well.
