The Mattoon Pride 12-under took second this past weekend at the Angels 4 Autism tournament in Farmington, Missouri, in the team’s first games of the season.

The Pride reached the championship game, losing 6-5 to the Arkansas Extreme.

The 12u Pride finished 1-1 in pool play, including a 7-6 loss to the Indiana Gators and a 2-0 win over the STL Prospects. The squad opened bracket play with a 7-0 shutout of Jeffco Express before defeating the SI Dirt Dawgs in the semifinals, 5-2.

Pitcher Addison Leichty did not allow an earned runs and struck out 14 in earning two victories. Haley Helm, meanwhile, collected six hits and drove in three runs, while Blair Powers and Amelia Collins each ripped five hits, scored four runs and had three RBIs.

Leichty added four hits, scored four times, while stole eight bases. Aylexis Otto contributed four hits and scored three times.  

The 12u Mattoon Pride return to action June 26-28 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
