Lake Land softball moved up one spot in the NJCAA Division I poll, released this week.

The Lakers (8-3), whose games were canceled this past week. are ranked No. 14. They began the season ranked No. 25.

Lake Land features an explosive lineup that has averaged 10 runs per game, has a .388 batting average and a .975 OPS (on-base + slugging percentage).

Five Lakers have an OPS above 1.000, led by freshman third baseman Kaitlyn Scheitler (1.422) who boasts a .622 on-base percentage and a .800 slugging percentage. Freshman utility player Krysten Darrough is next at 1.382 (.615/.667), followed by freshman pitcher Rachel Kaufman at 1.274 (.515/.759) and Mattoon High grad Abrienne Lee, a sophomore first baseman/pitcher, at 1.066 (.542/.524). Sophomore Amaya Eubanks is right behind at .993.

Lee is also 3-0 as a pitcher with a 4.50 earned run average while teammate Macy Clark has the lowest ERA at 3.34.

Freshman outfielder Frankie Izzard leads the Lakers in runs scored (20). Other team leaders: batting average (Darrough, .545), RBIs (Kaufman, 15) and hits (Darrough, 18).

Lake Land next plays this weekend in consecutive doubleheaders in Alabama.
