Mallory Ramage and Delainey Bryant combined for 35 points to lead Mattoon to a 68-38 win Monday over Taylorville on Senior Night.

The victory sets up, essentially, an Apollo Conference title game in Thursday’s regular season finale at Mt. Zion.

Mt. Zion defeated Lincoln on Monday night to remain within one-half game of Mattoon in the conference. Mattoon is 24-5 overall, 11-0 in the Apollo. Mt. Zion is 10-1, its only defeat a 50-35 decision to the Green Wave in mid-January.

Ramage scored 18 points, had four assists and three steals while Bryant posted 17 points, six rebounds and four steals.

Mattoon’s three seniors combined for 17 rebounds and 19 points. Jordan Sapp snagged nine rebounds and scored six points. Peyton Gill had five rebounds and six points while Hallie Niemerg added seven points and three rebounds.

“The seniors, Peyton Gill, Hallie Niemerg, and Jordan Sapp, got us off to a great start,” Mattoon coach Amanda Aydt said. “This is a great group of seniors. They are great leaders, have a good work ethic, never complain, and they are just all around great young ladies. I’ve really enjoyed coaching them and they all will be successful in whatever they choose to do.”

Mattoon took control early, going ahead 17-7 after one quarter, 36-21 by halftime and then ripping off a 26-11 third quarter to put the game away.
