
Kylie Haacke made two key plays down the stretch to help Mattoon fight off visiting Lincoln, 52-46, in an Apollo Conference girls basketball game Monday night.
The Green Wave, who led most of the game, fell behind 44-43 with 3:23 left in the fourth quarter after the Railsplitters opened up with a 9-3 run.
Junior guard Kylie Haacke then fired a crisp pass to sophomore guard Mallory Ramage, who put in a basket despite being fouled. The free throw afterward put the Green Wave ahead 46-44.
Two minutes later, Haacke made two free throws with 59 seconds remaining to put the game out of reach and keep Mattoon unbeaten in the Apollo Conference.
The Green Wave improved to 19-1 overall, 8-0 in the conference.
Ramage kept Mattoon in the game, scoring 10 of her game-high 32 points in the fourth quarter.
Faith Niebrugge grabbed six rebounds while Ramage, Hallie Niemerg and Delainey Bryant had five apiece.
