
Four Mattoon wrestlers captured individual titles to help the Green Wave take third in the Mattoon JV Wrestling Tournament held Saturday.
Mick Porter pinned Centennial’s Dontell Duggar 1 minute, 45 seconds into their championship match at 120 pounds. He had posted a pin 2:24 into his semifinal match.
Logan Blackburn defeated Sha’ron Brown, 4-1, in the 126-pound championship match after having routed Mahomet’s Theo Ratliff in the semifinals, 17-4.
Leo Meyers captured the 195-pound title after pinning both Mahomet’s Conner Richerson and Centennial’s Alex Trail 1:59 and 4:19 into their matches, respectively. He also posted a 6-5 decision over Mahomet’s Camden Harms in a division decided by round-robin format.
Kyus Root recorded a pin in 2:31 and a 10-3 decision to win the 170-pound title in another round-robin weight-class format.
Mattoon’s Stewart Druin posted a pin 1:11 into his consolation final at 138 pounds to take third place. Teammate Pierce Leeman took fourth at 145 pounds after being pinned with six seconds left in the consolation final.
Charleston’s Wyatt Kennedy won his consolation final at 220 pounds after beating Mahomet’s Zach Hammond by decision to finish third.
Teammate Alec Sellers took second after getting pinned 1:03 into the 145-pound final. Sellers had defeated Urbana’s John Ball, 5-1, in the semifinals.
