Parker Wolfe made six 3-pointers in the first quarter to help Effingham take an early and then cruise past Charleston, 78-60, in boys basketball Friday night.

Nate Thompson added eight points in an opening quarter that put Effingham ahead 28-12. The Hearts built that lead to 45-18 by halftime.

Isaac Miller made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points to help the Trojans outscore Effingham 26-16 in the third quarter, but they could not sustain that momentum.

Cade Landrus scored 14 for Charleston while Caleb Hurst added 11.

Drew Thompson made 10 of 12 free throws in the second half and the Hearts made 18 overall in the final two quarters.

In the JV game, Jaksen Braun scored 18 points in a 62-55 loss to Effingham.
