Delainey Bryant scored 14 points and snared 11 rebounds, and teammate Mallory Ramage scored 27 to help keep Mattoon undefeated in a 57-31 girls basketball victory over host Mahomet on Thursday night.

Mattoon is now 10-0 overall and 4-0 in the Apollo Conference.

The Green Wave, which allow fewer than 40 points a game, once again relied on defensive pressure to keep Mahomet off-balance. The Green Wave registered another double-figure tally in steals with 13. Bryant and Ramage had four apiece.

Mattoon went ahead early and held a 30-15 halftime lead, padding that advantage in the second half.

“I am proud of the way our girls played the entire game,” said Mattoon coach Amanda Aydt. “They gave 100 percent every second. We did a great job of anticipating passes, rotating to help, and sprinting back on defense.”

In JV action, Callan Haldorsen scored 12 points in a 52-44 loss to Mahomet. Lily Ghere and Chloe Pritt contributed eight points apiece for the JV Green Wave, now 2-3.
