Delainey Bryant scored 11 points in the first quarter which helped enable Mattoon to take an overwhelming 19-4 lead that it never relinquished in a rout of Taylorville, 63-33, on Monday night.

The Green Wave remain undefeated at 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the Apollo Conference.

Bryant scored 18 points overall while Mallory Ramage scored 16, had five steals and five assists.

“It was a great team win,” Mattoon coach Amanda Aydt said. “Our players played very well together and found the open player. We were very unselfish and made the extra pass when we needed to.”

The Green Wave once again registered double-digit steals, swiping the ball 14 times against Taylorville.

“We worked well together defensively to create turnovers, which led to baskets in transition,” Aydt said.

In JV action, Callan Haldorsen scored 14 points to lead Mattoon to a 44-25 victory over Taylorville. The Green Wave took a 12-2 first-quarter lead and padded it to 35-14 entering the final quarter.
