Four players scored in double-figures, and Mattoon took charge after a tight opening quarter to defeat host Lincoln, 54-42, in its Apollo Conference girls basketball opener Monday night.

The Green Wave, which trailed by to points after the opening quarter, outscored the Railers 15-7 to go ahead 28-22 at halftime and then slightly padded its lead in the second half.

Mallory Ramage made three 3-pointers to score a team-high 19 points while Delainey Bryant, Faith Niebrugge and Jordan Sapp each contributed 10 points. Niebrugge also registered five steals, Sapp snagged six rebounds and Bryant had four.

Mattoon improves to 6-0, 1-0 in the conference.
